Nature
wanted it to be so: a warm, merry beach on one shore; and
a peaceful, rocky sea on the other; very fine white sand crystal-clear
waters, caverns and cliffs: a history to be written about
a history yet to begin.
The city of Varadero is
located in the Hicacos peninsula, to the north to the province
of Matanzas,140 km away from the city of Havana, the capital
of the Republic of Cuba.
The beach area,
Varadero's main attraction, stretches along the northern coast
of the peninsula, which protrudes into the ever-warm waters
of the Gulf of Mexico. It is a narrow,23 km long strip surrounded
by a very fine white sand. One of the most relevant characteristics
of the beach, although not the only one, is the clearness
and shallowness of its waters, which allows bathers to go
several miles into the ocean with no danger.
The climate of
Varadero is tropical, like the rest of the island of Cuba.
The year's mean temperature, tempered by the trade winds and
the ocean breeze , is between 24 and 26 degrees Centigrade.
In wintertime, the climate is influenced by the northerly
masses of cold air. After it's brief passing, the beautiful
beach becomes sunny and warms as usual, with a mean temperature
not exceeding 22 degrees Centigrade.
Freedom
of lifestyle, business hours and the young people residing
in the city are such that the visitor is able to live in accordance
with their preferred type of holiday.
Varadero is par excellence the ideal place, to spend a pleasant
vacation.
